Making it in Yellow

It's spring and the color that best fits the mood is yellow! Bright and cheerful and full of life and light. Even yellow in small amounts can bring life and personality to any space. I am really digging grey walls lately and mixing it with yellow looks awesome. I love the print in these chairs, the huge artwork and the valance on the drapery. More yellow. and cool mirrored coffee table.
Yellow in the bedroom. Nice.

A Paper Towel Holder Spot

I love this spot for the paper towel holder. This really inspired my whole post today. It's convenient for whoever is at the sink, easy for kids to reach and it is hidden and out of the way. What a fun bright kitchen. Very classic with marble, traditional hinges and knobs farm sink and white subway tile backsplash. Lots of windows and an area to sit and visit and enjoy being in the kitchen.

My 5K Results

I did it! Saturday was a great day. I enjoyed the run and the feel of finishing. I got a pretty good time, really good if you consider that I hadn't trained to run UP a canyon. So I plan to run a few more 5Ks and at least a 10K soon.Pre-race excitement
At the finish line(this is NOT our time) with our group of friends that ran, it was really fun having a big group of us going and having fun doing something healthy. We did go out to eat afterwards though!
The girls
In our cool new race shirts
Me and my super cute little brother that came and ran the race just to support me! It was so unfair that he could just run circles around us like it was nothing!!! My parents and my little sister came to watch us too, which was really awesome considering they had to be there at 7am on a Saturday, love my family!!!

Explosion of Oil

So I drove up to my parents house on Sunday and there was smoke coming out of the hood, I figured that wasn't a good sign so I had my dad come out and look at it. When we lifted the hood there was oil everywhere! Not a good sign. Now you have to understand that my car isn't a NEW car by any means. In fact its more like the opposite of new. It's an '88 Chrysler LaBaron. Last spring I decided I need to get out of some debt and my parents offered this car for me to drive. I planned on driving it for 4 months (and at the time that seemed like forever!) Well 13 months later (I'm very proud of that fact) I'm out of debt and the car seems to have died. But I have loved not having a car payment! So yesterday I started looking at cars and I was just frustrated because everything I wanted was out of my price range. I just want to be extravagant and get something really cool like a Land Rover or an Audi, but practicality just had to win. So I found a cool little Hyandai Elantra and it was a great deal so I bought it. I think its a cute fun car that will get great gas mileage AND it has a sunroof (which was a must have).

BTW my little brother figured out what was wrong so it looks like the LeBaron will live a little longer, go Gilly!!!

Laughter

I need my good friends. I think sometimes I take them for granted, but at the end of the day they are the ones who make me laugh, listen to me ramble and love me. And all the dancing in the kitchen, long walks, phone conversations, funny text messages and time spent together makes me love my life!

A Green Home in Massachusetts

I ran across a cute blog the other day called Pewter + Sage. She was telling about how she lives in the New England Area where HGTV has their 2010 Green Home, located in Plymouth, MA. I would gladly be her neighbor!!! I love the New England Cottage inspired homes. AHhhhh, heaven. I love the natural feel of all the materials.
I love the plank ceiling
My dream office space, with a view!
