Domestic Attempts

So all growing up I distinctly remember EVERY girl swooning and ahhhhing over a Kitchenaid Mixer. Having gone to my fair share of bridal showers, I remember every girl squealing with absolute ecstasy because. they. just. got. a. kitchenaid. mixer!! And I always walking away shaking my head and wondering what the big huge deal was about having one of these mixers. I figured I was just left out on the secret cult called getting married and wanting so badly to have this ultimate cooking/baking machine so I can cook all day and make my family wonderful foods, geez all of that just because I'm still single, haha, I joke. Then I learned that tons of my single friends loved this machine too, what the heck??! Okay enough with the drama, you get the idea. Well anyway a few weeks ago my mom and I were shopping at Kohl's and they had these mixers on sale, we also had a 30% off coupon. So when I saw the mixer I thought to myself, why don't we just get one and maybe you'll get married, kidding. But I thought why not. So I bought it and took it home, and it sat in the garage for 2 or 3 weeks. Last night I was feeling bad for the mixer and I was reading this yummy website called Bakerella where I saw these, cake balls:
And I figured I should bust out the Kitchenaid. So a run to Walmart for the necessary ingredients (I've been eating healthy so I had nothing in my house to whip up anything this overly sugary, I'll be posting tomorrow about my wonderful new Body Bugg-you should google that now, or just wait until tomorrow) Set up the Kitchenaid and got domestic. I wish I could say my cake balls looked this good but I couldn't figure out how to roll the ball in the frosting so I drizzled it over the ball and spread it out. And while I still haven't figured out the obsession with the Kitchenaid I can say it was pretty fun to use and of course it will make a nice addition to my kitchen, I mean its looks alone should brighten my kitchen right?

Working on Goals

Lately I have been working on this list of things I want to do, a bucket list so to speak, but more like a bucket list before I turn 30, haha. So today I signed up for my first 5K run!!! It's in May, I'm not a runner at all but I have always wanted to try a 5K, I mean it's only 3 miles, I know I can do it. I will keep you posted on how the race goes. And if all goes well I am looking at 2 more races this summer and fall.

The Weekend

With spring coming I have been having the hardest time staying in my office and working. I just want to be outside and playing. And while I love my job it seems like the weekends cannot come quick enough. Tonight I'm meeting up with one of my cutest cousins and then with a new friend that is just so much fun. I think it's suppose to be crappy weather but if not I plan on going on a hike tomorrow and maybe watching a movie with another friend. Ahhh I'm just excited for the weekend. I hope you all have some great plans, even if it is just sleeping in, which I plan on doing too!

Super Tired Out

For the last few weeks I have been picking up the distance I walk everyday. This past Sunday my roommate and I walked 8 miles and jogged home the last 1 1/2 miles. And of course my dogs are ever eager to go but on this particular trip when we arrived home, just short of 2 1/2 hours later, I got out the food bowls and filled them up thinking my dogs would be hungry and scarf their food down (they do this every other day). But to our utter surprise and humor they both walked over to their food bowls sniffed and then plopped down and fell asleep! I guess 8 miles was a bit much for these small guys. We sure did get a laugh because food at our house is not ignored like that, not even among the people in our house! (please ignore the Christmas rug, this picture has pointed out to me that it is obviously time to switch that out)

Bright and Colorful

I love this lighting. The pattern is so fun and springy, and if you are all like me, I'm just loving every minute of this spring weather!!! And the blue plates are great, in my opinion you can never go wrong with blue.

Closet Obsession

Remember a few weeks ago I planned on doing a big post on closets? Well I finally got the post put together. Now if only I could replace a bedroom in my house and convert it into one of these absolutely fantastic closets. I think I would take any of them.
And sign me up for a nice big skylight in my closet too!!I love that everything has a place and it looks so orderly.
Everything is so easily viewable and accessible.
I want this much space for my shoes!
Or this much space!
I think I could very easily fill up this space just with my clothes. Imagine a space for all your off season clothes- no more switching and storing them under your bed.
I love the idea of an island. All those drawers for hats, headbands, jewelry, scarves,
I love the baskets and the black cabinets. The clerestory windows add natural light and look awesome.
This looks having your own personal store. I half expect to have a nice little lady come out and help me get dresses.

If I remember right this is Operas closet. I love the shoe storage and the lighting.

Just A Thought

"The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers."

More Mirror Fun

I love big mirrors leaning up against the wall. I love how this one has 2 mirrors side by side.
This is a fun idea, I bet it reflects in tons of light! My favorite!
This old and nicely craved mirror has so much character. I think it would fit in nicely to a modern design scheme as well.
Using a bunch of mirrors together create a fun and interesting display. It's fairly inexpensive and easy to do.
I love the bright vivid color of this mirror, very bold and striking.
This is a little quirky, and reminds me of "under the sea"

Mirror Fun

Mirrors have an amazing way of opening up space, reflecting light and creating a uniqueness to a space that no other object has. Here are some cool mirrors. Enjoy I believe this mirror is made by using some kind of laser to cut it, I like that it has endless ways to create a mirror that fits your style.
This writing is cool and makes the mirror "art" and a nice focal point.
I know swirls are starting to get to be a little overdone but I like the swirls on this mirror.
I think this mirror has small mosaic mirrors layered to create the cool edge (and if I'm wrong, well that's how I would do it). Super cool.

A Little Overstock Shopping

I was recently checking out overstock.com and came across some fun and fairly inexpensive pieces of furniture and lighting. So if you are shopping for your home check them out. I have wanted this chair, forever! It's a Charles Eames Executive Office Chair. And at the overstock.com price I might just be getting it for my office at work.
I think this light is fun and unique.
I love the chunkiness of this side table. I always dreamed of having a canopy bed. And I think I would dream better too.
I like these industrial style barstools.
And these contemporary barstools.I might need a chaise in my bedroom, but I'm thinking it would kind of look like the chair I currently have in there.... covered in clothes.

What a fun sideboard

Ottoman Crave

I want this ottoman. It's from Target. So fun and bright. And I like the stylized floral pattern.

The Golden Mean

I don't know where I got this picture but I think shows a great way to use paint and wainscot. I like the dark brown on top with the white below. Always remember to use the golden mean, which means that things look better when they are divided in 3rds. 1/3 or 2/3 never divide in half. I also like the zebra seat cushions, even though zebra is rapidly becoming too popular for me, I think it is a fun pattern that gives just the right amount of drama.

Craving Sunshine and Warmth

So this morning when I let my dogs outside I didn't have the immediate urge to shut the door as quickly as possible. Do you know what this means??? It means SPRING is coming, regardless that last night while I was running it was snowing lightly, I'm going to forget that part and I'm going to focus on all the warm weather that is coming our way. And I can live my patio door open in the morning and let in all the fresh air and sunlight come in. I can't wait.

I do love this kitchen layout. And I like the horizontal black metal panes in the glass doors and the black subway tiles on the backsplash too. I think the table in the center is a great place for family and friends to gather and interact while the cooking is getting done.

Open and Inviting

I like the white rock on the fireplace. I like the blue jars and the gray blue color on the walls. It's very simple and clean and it feels open and inviting.

Up Up and Away

I want an awesome skylight in my kitchen, or any room in my house for that matter. I love all the natural light that comes in from a skylight. It brightens and brings life to this space. I also really like the light blue glass tile on the backsplash and the open shelves.

A House to Love

It has been a crazy week. Here is a house I dream of living in. I love the beach house, modern cottage design. Happy Weekend. Go play and have some fun!

A Spa Everyday

I think this bathroom feels serene and peaceful. Kind of like being at a high end luxury spa. The combination of the blueish gray and white colors provides a pleasing contrast that is simple but sharp. Blues create the illusion of space and are very tranquil.
Symmetrical balance (creating a mirror image) is also relaxing and formal.

Movie Time

I think this room is cool, but I don't love the idea of sitting all by myself to watch the movie. I'm a cuddler!
What a fun party night! And I think you could fit 2 people on each chair.
